Lagar de Macedos
What it says on the bottle
Lagar de Macedos is a further expression of the 'Natural Winemaking' we pursue at Quinta de Macedos. It is the result of a 'hand harvest' of our younger 1945 grafted vines on terrace blocks A, B and C where Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca make up 70% of the blend. It yielded a mere 1,825 bottles. Trodden and naturally fermented with stalks in Lagar 1, it was racked 100% into Allier New Oak 228 litre casks in February 2003. The final blend was bottled in May 2004.

What it says on the nose
Elegant red fruit with orange and marmalade overtones and a hot peppery edge add up to a nose so big you can almost taste it.
What it says on the palate
Still young and precocious Lagar de Macedos benefits from a good airing so open a while before you taste. This young, it's best decanted before serving. Good tannins give it a dry edge on the side of the tongue, but the wine has magnificent fruit and a deep black velvet finish through the middle of the mouth.

What it says about you
A classy wine for classy people. Lagar de Macedos speaks volumes about a cosmopolitan and questioning approach to life from somebody prepared to brook no compromise in the search for something remarkable.
"Hold on to your hat. This is a beautiful monster... Massively fruity and succulent."
