Pinga do Torto
What it says on the bottle
Pinga is a Portuguese expression meaning a 'drop' of real character. When we looked into the vat of this wine, with its deep purple hue and aromas of rich and dense fruit, it seemed to express the real Torto character. So we named it Pinga do Torto.
It's a blend made up of young Touriga National and some barrel matured wines from ancient vines at Quinta de Macedos.

What it says on the nose
Pinga is a great conversationalist - the 'big hello' is immediate, full of fruit and complete with an invitation to take great big chewy mouthfuls and be prepared to smile. The spice and heat are nicely understated, and the overall package brings to mind midday-sun across summer meadows and picnics under the big oak tree.

What it says on the palate
This is neither a sipping nor a slurping wine. For sure you need a good mouthful, but so rounded are the flavours and conjured images that you'll be in no mood to swallow - this is a wine to roll around the palate and savour to extinction.

Extremely classy, it is also extremely versatile while being a pleasure for anybody who loves red wine. Pinga is a real treat - you don't expect the world to drink it every day (we don't produce that many bottles!), but when you fancy a real treat this is a wine that will surprise and delight.

What it says about you
This is a wine that says you've got the fearlessness to every now and again break away from the Shiraz-stacked supermarket shelves, become thoroughly self-indulgent and ever so slightly debauched. Don't hold back now, it is only by sometimes giving into our weaknesses that we come to realise our strengths.

"Such an amazing purity of fruit. A real decouvert!"
